Hello!
I'm Jill Florence Brooks.
I'm an artist, illustrator, and storyteller based in Vermont. I use art as a tool to deepen my sense of place, to examine my relationships with humans and more-than-humans, and to embrace vulnerability. My background is in geography and farming. I'm interested in a future world with more reciprocity between land and people, which tends to make its way into my work.
I'm a self-taught artist and enjoy using a wide variety of mediums including gouache, watercolor, colored pencil, wax pastel, and digital illustration. I'm often inspired by children's books, my own childhood memories, and playful visual narratives.
When I'm not making art I'm usually cooking, camping, reading sci-fi, journaling, or kissing my dog Loon.
